Puppy Raising

I had ever raised three dogs during my high school and college life. I firmly believe that dogs are human's best friends.

My first dog is a Maltese, KoKo. KoKo came to my family when she was one year old. I trained her how to sit down, shake hands, bring newspaper to me, and pretend to be dead. I thought that praise is better than punishment. Every time when she did something right, I always gave her a cookie. Unfortunately, she was killed in a car accident when she was five years old. Every one in my family felt sad about that tragedy.

The second dog of mine is Chico, a chihuahua. She came to my family because my mother bought her to make me not missing Koko too much. After two years, Chico gave birth to a baby dog. We gave the puppy a name, Bibi. I felt very excited about Bibi. Because Bibi was born in winter, we put a light bulb in her house to let her feel warmer. For their health, we gave them some fruit, such as banana, watermelon, apple, and orange. My father told me that an apple a day, keeps the doctor away. Now Chico is nine, and Bibi is seven. During the time I have learned some experience about how to raise dogs.

In different ages, dogs need to eat different dog food. If someone rings the bell, my dogs bark at first. I taught them what is “legal.” If they did not follow my order, I would give them no cookie. Gradually, they would not do that again.
To protect my dogs, every year I will bring them to doctors to have vaccines. It is also very important to walk the dog every day. I always took my dog to the park in the neighborhood. My dogs will have chance to meet other dogs and they will become friends. I can also exchange some tips with the other dog owners.

I learned that raising a puppy is never a easy job since having those lovely dogs. We should be patient and have real love for them. I love my dogs very much, and they are always my best friends.
